FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FIND ANSWERS TO OUR COMMON QUESTIONS

Why Choose an Architect?

Any building project has a number of attached decisions which are often complex and all have varied financial implications. This can create a feeling of stress, confusion or doubt. This is why at ES Architecture we provide a bespoke service to each of our customers. We aim to guide you through the planning and building process to ensure we can bring your vision to life, whilst informing you of all the necessary technical and legal information along the way.

Will we need any other professionals on our project?

External consultants may be required depending on the size, scope, and location of your project. We will discuss the need for other professionals on an individualised basis and offer recommendations where possible.

Can we guarantee planning permission?

Unfortunately there is no way of guaranteeing planning permission. Planning permission may also take some time before a decision is reached regarding an application. However, we aim to consider each local authorities individual requirements and guidelines throughout the design process in order to achieve the best chance of approval. We can also avoid the need to submit for planning permission if your project meets the requirements by utilising your permitted development rights.

Where are your projects usually based?

We have completed projects in Hertfordshire; including Watford, St Albans, Kings Langley, and Hemel Hempstead. In London, we have completed projects in Hillingdon, Westminster, Ealing, Barnet, and Brent. We have also completed projects in the west of London, including Clappsgate, Hook, and Reading.

What kind of projects do you take on?

At ES Architecture we have experience in projects all across the residential architecture sector, with an established portfolio of projects including home extensions, new build houses, flat conversions and small commercial projects. However, if you feel your project falls outside of this scope, please give us a call and we can discuss things further.

How do you calculate your fees?

As we provide a bespoke service we charge each of our projects on an individual basis. You may select all or part of our services and our fees will be calculated based on your requirement. We provide a personalised initial consultation for a fee. Fill out one of our Enquiry forms to get an offer of more details. This is to cover the expenses, time and design ideas of our Architect. Please note this will be deducted from your fee should you choose to use us for your project. Following this consultation if you choose to continue with our service we charge a minimum fee of £950 plus VAT for each phase. For example, our minimum fee would cover a modest extension to a small house or a loft conversion. We can give you a more in depth idea of the costings of your project following the initial consultation.

How much will my project cost?

The cost of your project can be affected by a long list of factors. However, as a general rule, expect to pay around £2000 per square meter for your building costs. During the course of your project we will work closely with you to ensure that your design visions are met whilst staying as close to your intended budget as possible.
