Northwood Double Storey Side Extension
Project Scope: This project involved the transformation of a traditional Mock Tudor building—originally characterized by dark, compartmentalised rooms—into a cohesive, light-filled home centered around a vast open-plan kitchen. To address the challenge of the building’s significant depth, the floor plan was replanned to maximise the central core as a social hub, connected via internal Crittall-style glass doors that draw natural light through the hallway and provide a seamless flow to the pantry, utility, and garage. The design is anchored by large-scale glazing that offers panoramic views from the kitchen across the landscaped gardens, while the rear extension was carefully designed to complement and enhance the historic character of the original building rather than detracting from it.
